Everything Happens For A Reason

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so you can appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so that you eventually learn to only trust in yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” - Marilyn Monroe

What’s going on in your life right now? You probably have a long list of things that have gone wrong. Now what if you thought about the list of things that are going right in your life? Is it shorter? Or is it longer? You might be like me and have about the same. Here is an example of my list:

You can probably notice that everything that was going right in my life had an opposing item that was going wrong. Life has a funny way of being both beautiful and horrendous at the same time. It goes back to the “Glass Half Full” saying. If you are someone who pays more attention to the rights than the wrongs, then your glass is half full. Vice versa, if your wrongs are more significant than your rights, then your glass is half empty. I know that there are people out there who are gonna annoy you by saying things like “Just try and have a more positive outlook on life!”. We all know that that doesn’t necessarily work all of the time. Sometimes, we just have to be sad. Sometimes life really does just seem like an inconvenience. But I promise that everything will get better. Everything really does happen for a reason. Here are 5 reasons why things happen for a reason:

It Prepares You For What Is Too Come

Everyday we go through things that help us change. Whether it’s the start of a new relationship, or the end of an old one. We wouldn’t be put through things that the universe didn’t think we could handle. Later on down the road, when you go through a similar situation, you’ll know how to handle it better. You won’t get hurt as bad. You won’t get pushed around so easily.

It Makes You More Resilient

You are gonna make it through anything. Even if at times you feel like you would rather die, you can make it through it. You are so strong. You are capable of so much. You can’t control what goes on in life, but you can control how you react to it. Learn how to stay humble and kind through everything. It will make you stronger and happier.

It Helps You Shatter All of Your Old Beliefs

Once you go through something that changes you, you can look back and see all of the things you were doing wrong. “Gee, maybe I shouldn’t have kept trying to win his heart if he obviously liked 50 other girls. Huh, who know?”. You learn that certain behaviors were unacceptable and you’ll be better prepared to handle it in the future.

It Helps Invite Progress, Not Perfection

Too often, when something goes wrong in our lives, we like to think down on ourselves. “He had to have chosen that girl because I’m ugly and fat and annoying and no one will ever love me”. When in reality, you aren’t any of those things. The simple answer is that it just wasn’t meant to be. Instead of thinking less of yourself, think about how you can do better next time!

It Makes You More Empathetic and Real

When you go through more experiences, you can help others with theirs. Everyone has gone through something that has hurt and changed them. Now, if your friend goes through something similar, you can guide them into making the right decisions. You don’t want to walk through life thinking you know it all if you haven’t experienced things.

Life is hard, but everything in it happens for a reason. Remember that if you are ever question your self worth, find someone to talk too. If you feel like you have no one to talk too, please don’t be afraid to contact me. No one deserves to be sad. Especially not someone as special as you! Stay happy!
